Nook Color…Photo Portfolio?

It’s going on three weeks since I picked up my Nook Color, rooted it and installed LauncherPro making it a fully functioning android tablet.  In addition to enjoying access to the majority of android apps out there, I’ve found that the 7 inch color screen makes for a great platform on which to showcase photos.  Thanks to a slideshow function, I can leave the Nook sitting on my desk like a digital photo frame, scrolling through my collection.  Additionally, I can swipe through my collection manually to show people a selection of my work.

Besides doing that, I’m reading my books, surfing the internet, blogging, tweeting, facebooking, flickring and just about anything else I want.  I can even listen to the Las Vegas police department thanks to a nifty scanner app while I am playing an emulator of Super Mario 3.  While $250 is a little pricey for just an ereader, it’s quite a deal for an android tablet when you consider that a comparable unit marketed as a tablet is selling for upwards of $500.  I find the 7 inch screen to be the perfect size and much prefer it over the less portable IPAD.

So if you are looking for a quality, solid feeling android tablet AND have some basic technical know-how, pick up a Nook Color.  It sure beats carrying around a photo album!

  1. I’ve wanted something like this ever since I saw the PADD in Star Trek TNG.
Looks like I finally got my wish.
