Happy Halloween

Last week, I made me second annual trip to Roger Williams Park Zoo in Providence, Rhode Island for the Jack-O-Lantern Spectacular.  If you have $10 burning a hole in your pocket, make the trip after sunset and get ready to see what seems like thousands of pumpkins on display.  Some are hand carved in the traditional sense: eyes, nose and a mouth with a light inside.  Others, like the one below, represent elaborate sketch-work-carvings.   The only light along your evening walk is that which is provided by the pumpkins.

I tried to get in with my tripod, but I was understandably turned away because of the “trip hazard” the tripod would likely create.  Since my tripod it undoubtedly the most important tool in my work, trying to shoot without it was difficult to say the least.  I had to stand fairly still, flip on the image stabilizer and shoot in high ISO.  The results were good enough for web posting, but no good for print.

Anyway, you can check out more from that shoot at: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Cape-Night-Photography/197628441367

Hope you have a safe and happy Halloween.
